Getting to the Museum

Address

Sibyllegatan 2, Stockholm. The entrance is located via Väpnarplan.

By Bus

Bus stops are located at Nybroplan, approximately 100 meters from the museum.

By Subway

Subway to Östermalmstorg and exit toward Sibyllegatan. Turn right on Sibyllegatan; the museum entrance is via Riddargatan.

By Car or Travel Service

Vehicles can stop directly at the accessible entrance on Väpnarplan.
Please note: The museum does not have dedicated parking facilities.

Accessibility for Visitors with Personal Assistants

Personal assistants accompanying visitors with disabilities are granted free admission upon presenting a valid assistant’s card.


Accessibility for Visitors with Hearing Disabilities

  • Service dogs are welcome throughout the museum.
  • Some exhibition areas have a noisy soundscape.
  • Headphones are available at several locations.
  • Films in the museum are subtitled in both Swedish and English.
  • A hearing loop is installed in the Grand hall.

Accessibility for Visitors with Visual Disabilities

  • Guide dogs are welcome throughout the museum.
  • Handrails are available on all indoor staircases.
  • The edges of stairs are marked with high-contrast strips on the top and bottom steps for better visibility.

Accessibility for Visitors Using Wheelchairs

  • All public spaces in the museum are wheelchair accessible.
  • Two elevators (one large and one small) provide access to all floors.
  • Some exhibit areas include gentle slopes due to the building’s historic nature. These slopes are marked with high-contrast strips at their start and end.

Quieter Environment

  • The museum is generally quieter on weekdays after 14.00.
  • Guided tours booked before 11.00 offer exclusive access to the exhibition spaces.
  • Visitors sensitive to flickering lights can ask reception staff for guidance to avoid those areas.

Entrances and Doors

  • The museum’s accessible entrance is at street level.
  • All doors have either electric door openers or open automatically.
  • The entrance includes a cloakroom equipped with lockers and restrooms.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located on every floor and include accessible options:

  • Floor 1: Near the reception area, there are three standard restrooms and one accessible restroom with a baby changing table.
  • Floor 2: Near the picnic room, there is one accessible restroom with a baby changing table.
  • Floor 3: In the small staircase area, there is one accessible restroom and one standard restroom.
  • Floor 3½: Near the foyer, there are four standard restrooms and one accessible restroom with a baby changing table.
