Musiksamtal och soppa (English version)
Hear about music from Estonia from the time of Soviet occupation – the forbidden groove. Scenkonstmuseet (The Swedish Museum of Performing Arts) invites you to an after-work with a talk and a soup dinner!
The forbidden groove
Welcome to a talk about Soviet censorship of culture, about a time when musicians were monitored and persecuted, and about secret recordings that have been unearthed from hidden archives.
Henrik Ehte talks about Estonian funk, jazz, disco and pop from the 1970s and 1980s, a time when Estonians were under Soviet occupation. Hear about the music and the message hidden between the lines kept Estonia alive, the underground clubs and festivals and the Estonian musicians and singers, who at this time were popular throughout the Soviet Union, but wanted to expand their expression.
The talk will be held in English.
